Overview
BookWise is an iOS app by ARAapps, an independent app brand operated by Sudheer Alluri. The app helps you search for books, save a reading library, and receive personalized suggestions. This policy describes information handled by the current BookWise app and the services it uses.
Information we use
- Account: the email address you use for a magic-link sign-in and the account identifier needed to keep your data associated with you.
- Reading preferences: genres you like or avoid, favorite books/authors, reading style, and optional notes about your preferences.
- Reading library and feedback: books you save, reading status, personal ratings, likes/dislikes, and optional notes.
- Requests: book-search terms and optional text you type when requesting a suggestion.
- Purchase status: Apple subscription transaction information needed to verify BookWise Pro access. We do not receive your payment card number.
How BookWise uses it
We use this information to sign you in, sync your library and preferences, display book details, personalize suggestions, enforce free-plan usage limits, verify subscription access, and respond when you contact support. Recently viewed books are stored on your device for quick access.
Services involved
Supabase provides account sign-in, data syncing, and the server functions that protect API credentials. Google Books supplies search results and book metadata such as covers, authors, descriptions, and ratings. OpenAI helps rank actual Google Books candidates using relevant preferences, reading history, feedback, and the request you enter; BookWise checks the returned Google Books IDs before showing results. Apple handles in-app subscriptions and payment processing.
These providers may process the information needed to perform their respective tasks under their own terms and policies. BookWise does not sell your personal reading data.
Storage and choices
BookWise keeps a local copy of saved books and preferences on your device and syncs them to your signed-in account. Account data is protected so signed-in users can access their own library. You can edit preferences, update or remove saved books, and sign out in the app.
You can delete your BookWise account and associated cloud reading data in the app under Account & data. If you need help, email ara.apps.support@gmail.com from the address used for the account. We may need to verify that the account belongs to you. Deleting BookWise does not itself cancel an Apple subscription; manage that separately in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions.
Security and updates
BookWise stores sign-in credentials in the iOS Keychain and keeps production API secrets on the server rather than in the app. No system is perfectly secure. We may update this policy as BookWise changes; the effective date above will be revised when we do.
